WiP #12: Shut up and post

Just do it.

Have you ever sat in a classroom with the answer for the teacher's question, and kept quiet?

Then Alex raises their hand, and says what you were going to say.

You realised you weren't an idiot after all.

But you were annoyed with yourself for not having the confidence to back yourself and answer the question in the first place.

Pause story.

Resume story.

Not just me then.

So... creating content and sharing your thoughts online.

The limiting beliefs, the fear of coming across 'cringe' and the irrational assumption that nobody will respond positively or support what you say... is similar.

Last week I was severely hungover, speaking to a friend who recently turned freelance.

I asked them what the latest was with their Linkedin content.

To be honest, I can't remember what they said, but because I was on the verge of being sick and my head was pounding, my empathy was quite low.

My dialogue went like this:

Just post it.

Nobody cares, just post it.

Finish that post.

Have you finished it yet?

Yep, that looks good to go - schedule and post it.

And 1,100 likes, 15 booked meetings and 23 other leads later - my freelance friend waved goodbye to their imposter syndrome.

Shut up and post.

Share with me.
